It is only just that the Victoria Falls are considered one of the natural wonders of the world. The waterfall is formed by the Zambezi River that suddenly plunges down into a narrow, 100 meter deep gorge. In addition, the Victoria Falls with a width of more than a kilometer are also the widest waterfalls in the world.

The sound of the falling water can be heard at a distance of 40 kilometres, while the fog and mist from the falling water rises to 400 meters. Perhaps the most beautiful of the Victoria Falls is the rainbow that arises when the light reflects from the surface of the Moon.

The Victoria Falls offer a spectacular sight of inspiring beauty and grandeur on the Zambezi River. The original inhabitants, the Kololo Tribe lived in this area in the 1800s. They called the waterfall “Mosi-oa-Tunya”, meaning “the smoke that thunders”.

The width of the falls transforms the Zambezi from a calm river into a rough flood that cuts through a series of spectacular gorges.

Opposite the falls is a huge wall of basalt, rising to the same height and covered with a rain-drenched rainforest.

A path along the edge of the forest offers the brave visitors who are prepared to face the enormous water mists, an unrivaled series of diverse scenic views of the falls.

A special lookout point is the Knife-Edge Bridge, where visitors have the best view of the “Eastern Cataract” and the “Main Falls” as well as the “Boiling Pot”, where the river turns and then falls through the Batoka Gorge.

Other good lookout points are the Falls Bridge, Devils Pool and the Lookout Tree, both of which offer panoramic views of the Main Falls.

During the dry season (September to December) the water level drops in Zambezi River Falls, which makes it possible to walk over the main part of the waterfall and to jump over the streams.

A visit to the Devils Pool not only provides breathtaking views, it is also a great experience to take a dip in this natural pool. In this pool you can feel how a ton of pouring water in the neighbourhood falls down. However, please note that this natural swimming pool is closed during the high water season for safety reasons.
